Confirmed. Which raises two points:

It works in single-pane mode, so should “just work” in multi-pane mode.

Now, the second ctrl+a selects the entire pane (when it’s working). What I would love would be if each ctrl+a selected another (larger, higher) level.
a) node text
b) node and note
c) all siblings
d) all siblings and parent
e) all aunts and uncles
etc…
