If anyone wants to play around with the new Workflowy API, there was (is) a pretty nice third-party widget for Dynalist called QuickDynalist, which does this and a few other cool things; the code is open source, so it might be possible to adapt it to work with Workflowy!
Update: turns out this feature is already available in the Android app! Not sure why they didn’t announce it — maybe it’s recent and will be announced in the next post
