Back in the day I used Dynalist and one thing I loved about it was how colored Highlights looked. Basically you would Highlight the whole node and it did a roundish soft colore highlight under the whole thing that looked aesthetically pleasing.

Note how the highlight covers the whole line, not just the text… it made it super easy to parse a fully expanded tree of notes.
