With the new calendar feature we have a shortcut to navigate to Today which is really awesome. But using the calendar i often have dates in the future (sometimes the past) that i want to jump directly to. Now i’m going to my today bullet and in the calendar i click on the date picker icon then navigate to the date i want to go. Maybe it would be useful to add an icon in the top bar to make the selection of date more efficient wherever we are ? Did i miss a quicker way to do that ?
I don’t think you’ve missed anything. That’s a good suggestion.
When I want to work on a day in the future or past, I often have a node I want to make a child of that day or tag with that day. So instead of navigating to today, tapping the date selector, and navigating to the date I have in mind, I type the node then tag it with the date (using the !! shortcut) or move it to that date with the Move to date command (/md ). If I’ve moved it, I can jump to it with Shift-Enter. If I’ve tagged it with the date, I can jump there by tapping the date tag.
This is similar to the technique of creating a new project for a new task I come across while processing on my daily note or inbox. Instead of navigating the a list of projects to create the project, add the task, then navigate back, I create the project (using a template), move the task into it, then move the project to the project list all while staying on today’s note or my inbox.
I like this idea. When we hover over the “Show Completed” check mark in the top bar, there’s a pop-up switch. It would be cool if a calendar would pop-up when we hover over the calendar icon.
I like your idea too
it would be clever to do it that way, no visual clutter.
Thx for your answer, i had to read it a few times to understand all the technics you use. I was not using shift enter but it’s a nice one and the date tags trick is a nice one. I will see if i can incorparate all of this in my routine ![]()
