I would really love the ability to select multiple items, and “Copy Internal Link” to them, just like I can currently mirror or move multiple items at one time.
Use Case:
I use internal links to help pull together a list of items for a specific day or week. (There are a variety of reasons I don’t want to use MOVE or MIRROR for this.)
I don’t want to MOVE - because I want the items to stay with their projects, areas, etc.
I don’t want to MIRROR - because many of these items are recurring things, and I update the date to the next due date once they’re complete. I don’t want to have multiple mirrors of these items all over the place.
A LINK lets me generate a list and keep track of what I accomplished, while leaving things where they belong, and not littering my outlines with mirrors that don’t belong.
Out of curiosity, why is a LINK less cluttery than a MIRROR? Because it doesn’t require a separate node? Because you can mark it complete, which you can’t do for just one mirror?
I use the links for items that repeat (home chores, med reminders, etc).
So - two “less clutter” reason:
If I were to mirror it each time, I’d end up with dozens (if not hundreds) of mirrors of each item.
AND Yes, because then I can mark the link complete, and keep it in the record of what I did for the day, while updating the date in the main item to the next recurrence.
I also find the backlinks helpful, “When did I last do XYZ task?” Mirrors are harder to view in that way.
Similarly -
I’d like to be able to click & drag to create a link. (Like we can currently shift+click&drag to create a mirror).
I’d suggest something like shift+x + drag. Shift+L (while seeming logical for links) would be an awkward combination with click and drag - to hard to hit with your left hand while using a mouse with the right.
