BUG REPORT : Inconsistent Chat History and Deletion Capabilities Between Global Workflowy AI and "Chat about this" Modes

Description : There is a fragmented and inconsistent user experience in Workflowy AI when using standard global chat (“Chat with Your Notes”) versus targeted node chat (“Chat about this”).

  1. Inverted Deletion Rights : Chat histories generated via “Chat about this” (focused mode) can be deleted from their history view, whereas global AI chats (“Chat with Your Notes”) lack a deletion option in the primary Chat History list.
  2. Disconnected Chat Histories : Conversations are split into isolated history lists depending on whether they were started globally or via a specific node’s context menu, preventing a unified overview of past AI interactions.
  3. Loss of Unified Focus Controls : Previously, focusing on a specific note was handled seamlessly within a single unified chat panel using inline filters (e.g., + Focus on these notes). The current implementation splits these into distinct interface modes with mismatched capabilities.
Steps to Reproduce

Part A : Global AI Chat Session (Deletion Missing)

  1. Open Workflowy AI via the bottom-right widget icon.
  2. Send a query in the global prompt box (e.g., “2 ?”).
  3. Click the History (clock) icon at the top right of the panel.
  4. Hover over the recorded global session under Chat History.
  5. Observe that there is no delete icon or option to remove the standard chat session.

Part B : “Chat about this” Focused Session (Deletion Available)

  1. Hover over a bullet/node in the outline, open the context menu, and select Chat about this.
  2. Send a message within the focused panel (e.g., “!?”).
  3. Click the History icon at the top right.
  4. Hover over the session entry in this view.
  5. Observe that a trash/delete icon appears, allowing this specific focused history item to be deleted.

Expected Behavior

  • All AI chat histories (global and note-focused) should be accessible from a single, unified Chat History interface.
  • Users should have consistent deletion and management controls across all chat sessions regardless of how or where the session was initiated.
  • Focusing on a note should function as an inline toggle or scope filter within a standard conversation thread rather than opening a disconnected mode with different UI rules.

Actual Behavior

  • Global chat entries in the main Chat History cannot be deleted by the user.
  • Focused “Chat about this” sessions exist in a separate history context where deletion is enabled.
  • Switching between global chat and node-focused chat fragments user history and creates asymmetrical functionality.

Impact

Inconsistent UX creates confusion around data privacy and session management. Users are unable to clean up or delete global AI queries while being able to delete focused node queries, leading to unnecessary UI clutter and unpredictable behavior.
