Right now, if I toggle the pane, the leftmost pane becomes the only one displayed. Then, the whole screen scrolls down to the bottom. It’s very frustrating.
I’m always confused by the “toggle pane” command, so I don’t use it. What is your understanding of what it is supposed to do? Thanks.
When in the multi-pane mode (like I have opened 30 panes), I want to make the focused pane be the single one pane,
-
I use the shortcut (open_in_pane_1) to make this focused pane open in the leftmost pane;
-
then I use the toggle pane shortcut.
That’s the only way I can do this, and do you have any better workaround?
And if you don’t use toggle_panes, how do you change from multi-pane mode to single-pane mode![]()
I keep 2 WF tabs open. One is multi-pane, the other is single pane. (Usually when I want a single pane open, it’s not the same as any of the panes in my standard 3-pane, so it’s no big deal to open it in the single pane tab.) But yes, I can see the use-case for the request.
Bookmark the layout is what I do. I have a single pane bookmark, a two pane bookmark (my default), and various saved search multi pane layouts.
So the bookmark for the 1 pane view gets me there right away. Then bookmark to whatever view after that.
Vivaldi is particularly friendly in this regard. When you create a nickname for the bookmark it’s Ctrl+E followed by the nickname.
