Clicking an item in the side bar always opens it in the first pane

If I have focus on the second or third pane, I would expect clicking an item in the sidebar would bring it up in the active pane. It feels confusing that it always opens in the first pane.

You are right.

Also, Alt+clicking the item in the sidebar should open the new pane right next to the focused pane rather than in the rightmost new pane.
