I backed up my Workflowy to a file, then re-imported it after deleting all my existing ndoes.
My Custom Hotkey, which were working previously, no longer worked. In the previous version, I had renamed the default “Hotkey” node as “Custom Hotkeys”, although this had worked (as I had read somewhere in the docs).
Once re-imported, they no longer worked, so I was force to use settings to re-create a new default-named hotkeys node, then cut/paste my old hotkey info into that new node and rename it afterwards. They now work again.
I think this is as expected. Special nodes (e.g. custom hotkeys and inbox) are created by the system. They are identified internally by their internal ID numbers. So you can rename or move them as desired.
That is what I thought, but the archive/export/import process must have stripped those unique ids, turning the hotkeys into a ‘normal node’. I suspect that this is an oversight, and that these ‘special nodes’ should persist their ids with archives, exports and imports, and will probably have to be patched to do so.
Actually, no, I wasn’t referring to a dropbox-specific backup. I probably should have tested that as well, but don’t use dropbox. I was using a local, on my server backup and an export to my server in comparison.
I’ll have to try a diff of all three of those as well. In fact, maybe I’ll try it with a free account. All this mucking about with my actual account makes me nervous
How do you do a local backup, other than with the export command? For export, you don’t need to re-import it to check that there are no IDs in the exported files; they are all human-readable. (Based on quick looking – so I could be mistaken.)
In addition, it would appear that the issue with “renaming the Hotkeys node fails during un-archive”, as suspected this also affects the “Inbox” node.
If it is renamed, archived and restored, it loses it’s ‘unique ID’ and fails to function as expected, needing to be recreated (and renamed if desired).

Yes, I’m using the Workflowy native App on Windows, iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.
I’ve never been fond of using browser-based apps; my feeling is that even an ‘electron or otherwise wrapped webapp’ is better than working in a Browser. I’d be happy to pay extra for an .exe any time
