I find that a neat list, without hashtags or notes, is easier to navigate. I don’t use notes very much for this reason and add them in a child node because of this.
The workaround of adding a space at the top is no use as I don’t want to click into every bullet to see the notes one at a time.
Just like we have the hide/show completed button, if we could have a hide/show notes as well, I think it would be a nice touch. The button could switch between 3 states:
- show first line
- show all
- show none.
Use cases:
- Hide: Instantly cleaning up the view so the eye can scan down a list more easily to find something - removes noise.
- Show ALL: Reminders of what the nodes represent (for training/reminding).
- Show first line: Great if you have a series of tags that you want to see when in a specific work mode.
- Show ALL: If notes are acting as YAML front matter for say skill.md files when using the MCP server, we can also scan down them like an LLM would.
It might also be time to let us add/remove icons in the nav bar too (I think it’s full now!). Ones that aren’t on the nav bar directly could go under a “more” icon so they still remain 2 clicks away. Under the “more” icon an edit pencil and drag-to-sort function would be a dream.
